These safety switches are important for keeping workers away from the dangerous parts of a machine that may not stop upon the interruption of power. For instance, many machines, like those with fast rotations, high inertia or high pressure, will continue to move for some time even after power is cut. A guard locking switch locks the machine guard until power is isolated, preventing personnel from getting too close.

This particular model of guard locking switch is a positive-mode solenoid switch with a power-to-release design. It is a guard locking, tongue-operated interlock switch that only opens the guard when the internal solenoid receives a signal to do so. It has a high locking force of 1600 Newtons or 360 pounds and a heavy-duty die-cast alloy housing. Combine that with a wide operating temperature range from -25 to 60℃ and a mechanical life of 1 million operations, and you’ve got a robust locking switch that can handle even the toughest environments.

The Allen-Bradley 440G-MT47047 also features a fully-flex actuator and 24V of AC/DC voltage. It has two normally closed contacts and two normally opened.
